Flower Tea on the Rooftop

老周在小街上开了一家茶店。

Lǎo Zhōu zài xiǎo jiē shàng kāi le yì jiā chá diàn.

Lao Zhou runs a tea shop on a small street.

今天下午，店里的客人很少。

Jīntiān xiàwǔ, diàn lǐ de kèrén hěn shǎo.

This afternoon, there are very few customers in the shop.

他一边洗杯子，一边看着门口。

Tā yìbiān xǐ bēizi, yìbiān kàn zhe ménkǒu.

He washes cups while looking at the door.

小林走进来，看起来很累。

Xiǎo Lín zǒu jìnlái, kànqǐlai hěn lèi.

Xiao Lin walks in, looking very tired.

她说：“老周，我今天工作太忙了。”

Tā shuō: “Lǎo Zhōu, wǒ jīntiān gōngzuò tài máng le.”

She says, "Lao Zhou, I was too busy at work today."

老周笑着问：“还是要绿茶吗？”

Lǎo Zhōu xiào zhe wèn: “Háishi yào lǜchá ma?”

Lao Zhou asks with a smile, "Green tea as usual?"

小林想了想，说今天不想喝绿茶。

Xiǎo Lín xiǎng le xiǎng, shuō jīntiān bù xiǎng hē lǜchá.

Xiao Lin thinks for a moment and says she doesn't want green tea today.

老周说：“我有一种很不一样的茶。”

Lǎo Zhōu shuō: “Wǒ yǒu yì zhǒng hěn bù yíyàng de chá.”

Lao Zhou says, "I have a very different kind of tea."

他拿起一个小瓶子，里面是干花。

Tā ná qǐ yí gè xiǎo píngzi, lǐmiàn shì gān huā.

He picks up a small jar with dried flowers inside.

老周说：“跟我来，我们去屋顶喝。”

Lǎo Zhōu shuō: “Gēn wǒ lái, wǒmen qù wūdǐng hē.”

Lao Zhou says, "Follow me, we'll drink it on the roof."

小林很奇怪，茶店的屋顶有什么呢？

Xiǎo Lín hěn qíguài, chá diàn de wūdǐng yǒu shénme ne?

Xiao Lin finds it strange. What could be on the tea shop's roof?

他们一起走上了又小又长的楼梯。

Tāmen yìqǐ zǒu shàng le yòu xiǎo yòu cháng de lóutī.

Together they walk up the long, narrow stairs.

屋顶上有很多花，真漂亮！

Wūdǐng shàng yǒu hěn duō huā, zhēn piàoliang!

There are lots of flowers on the roof, so beautiful!

小林笑着说：“我不知道你还种花。”

Xiǎo Lín xiào zhe shuō: “Wǒ bù zhīdào nǐ hái zhòng huā.”

Xiao Lin says with a smile, "I didn't know you also grow flowers."

老周说：“这些花都是我自己种的。”

Lǎo Zhōu shuō: “Zhèxiē huā dōu shì wǒ zìjǐ zhòng de.”

Lao Zhou says, "I grew all these flowers myself."

风有点大，花被吹得轻轻地动。

Fēng yǒu diǎn dà, huā bèi chuī de qīng qīng de dòng.

The wind is a bit strong, and the flowers sway gently in it.

老周拿了几朵小黄花。

Lǎo Zhōu ná le jǐ duǒ xiǎo huáng huā.

Lao Zhou takes a few little yellow flowers.

小林把花放进了小碗里。

Xiǎo Lín bǎ huā fàng jìn le xiǎo wǎn lǐ.

Xiao Lin puts the flowers into the small bowl.

开水倒进碗里，花香慢慢出来了。

Kāishuǐ dǎo jìn wǎn lǐ, huā xiāng mànmàn chūlái le.

Boiling water is poured into the bowl, and the flower scent slowly comes out.

小林喝了一口，笑了。

Xiǎo Lín hē le yì kǒu, xiào le.

Xiao Lin takes a sip and smiles.

她说：“这杯茶又香又甜！”

Tā shuō: “Zhè bēi chá yòu xiāng yòu tián!”

She says, "This tea is both fragrant and sweet!"

太阳慢慢落下去，天越来越红。

Tàiyang mànmàn luò xiàqù, tiān yuèláiyuè hóng.

The sun slowly sets, and the sky gets redder and redder.

小林不累了，心情也越来越好。

Xiǎo Lín bú lèi le, xīnqíng yě yuèláiyuè hǎo.

Xiao Lin is no longer tired, and her mood gets better and better.

她说：“明天我还要来屋顶喝茶。”

Tā shuō: “Míngtiān wǒ hái yào lái wūdǐng hē chá.”

She says, "Tomorrow I'll come to the roof for tea again."
