About this lesson
Three useful body words, each shown in an everyday moment with a flatmate or colleague, plus the mistake English speakers make with each.
How to practise
- Learn each word on its card: the word and what it means.
- Repeat every example out loud in the Te toca · Your turn pause, then check the Don't say card: how not to use the word.
- At the end, take the quick quiz on the theme's words.
el cuerpo The body
| Word | Meaning | Don't say |
|---|---|---|
| la cabeza | the head feminine noun, me duele la cabeza | Mi cabeza duele. ✗ · Me duele la cabeza. ✓ Spanish uses me duele plus the article, not a possessive. |
| la mano | the hand feminine noun, despite ending in -o | El mano es pequeño. ✗ · La mano es pequeña. ✓ Mano ends in -o but is feminine, so use la and pequeña. |
| el pie | the foot masculine noun, plural los pies | Me duele la pierna del zapato. ✗ · Me duele el pie. ✓ Pie is the foot; pierna is the whole leg, so don't mix them. |
